Nembutsu in Daily Life

May nembutsu be a calm and comforting companion in your daily life. The information below applies to version 1.0.1 of Nembutsu in Daily Life. If you need help, please select a topic or contact us.

Common Support Topics

Select a topic to view the details.

Importing Nembutsu Audio
  • For reliable importing, we recommend MP3, WAV, or M4A files. M4B is primarily an audiobook format and may not be recognized correctly by the app.
  • Before importing, make sure the audio file is saved in a location your phone can access, such as “On My iPhone,” iCloud Drive, or Google Drive or OneDrive connected to the Files app.
  • If a cloud icon appears beside the file, download it to your phone before returning to the app to import it.
Background Image Settings
  • Before selecting an image, make sure it has been saved in the Photos app on your phone.
  • The app is primarily used in portrait orientation, so a portrait image is recommended. Landscape images such as 16:9 photos may be cropped.
  • Choose an image with some space around the main subject so that people, text, or other important details are not too close to the edges.
Nembutsu Counting & Playback Modes
  • On first use, the playback duration defaults to “Continuous Playback.” After selecting a nembutsu audio file, you can begin playback right away without setting a duration first.
  • If you would like to change it, you can choose 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, One Full Round, or Continuous Playback.
  • For a timed mode, the app stops when the selected time has elapsed. “One Full Round” plays the audio file once from beginning to end, then stops.
  • “Continuous Playback” repeats the audio until you manually pause or stop it.
  • After a timed session or “One Full Round” ends, you can start the next session immediately or choose another playback mode. You no longer need to close and reopen the app.
  • The app automatically remembers your most recently selected nembutsu audio file, volume, and playback duration, so you do not need to set them again every time you open the app.
  • When importing an audio file, enter the number of nembutsu recitations it contains—for example, 1,000 or 10,000. The app uses the playback progress to estimate the number of recitations.
Daily Records & Calendar
  • In the app, tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner, scroll to the Calendar section, and turn on “Add Records to Calendar.”
  • You may enable Daily Nembutsu Records, Dedication Records, and Dedication Recipient Records as needed. If you do not want dedication records, you can leave those options turned off.
  • If your phone requests calendar access, allow the app to use the calendar so that records can be added.
Playback & Headphones
  • Before playback, make sure your Bluetooth headphones are connected to your phone and selected as the current audio output device.
  • If the headphones are not connected, the nembutsu audio may play through the phone speaker. We recommend connecting headphones first when using the app in public.
  • When playing only the nembutsu track: Some Bluetooth headphones or speakers may not switch the audio output immediately. If there is no sound or the device does not connect, briefly play regular audio on your phone—for example, a YouTube video or the app’s main track. After confirming that sound is coming through the Bluetooth device, pause the main track and continue playing only the nembutsu track.
